Ive had trimmers at work people have done nothing more to then put in a new E3 plug and they suddenly wont run right. I put in a Champion RC12YC and it was back to normal. I put one in my Racing Kart engine, and it was hard to start, and would foul if I let it idle for more than 3-4 minutes to warm up. I pulled the plug and it looked fine, sparked when groudned to the engine, I put in a Champion J19LM and it fired right up and I was shocked how well the engine ran as opposed to with the E3 plug. Then it started taking 2-3 pulls to start, then it started to lack power, then one day it just wouldnt start when I needed it to. I bought one for my snapper RER, 8hp Briggs and I noted it started about the same, 1 pull cold.and ran the same, for about 3-4 gallons of gas. ![]() They are in popular sizes, but last I checked no heat ranges, and heat range is vital on a small engine. The plugs cost between 6 and 10 dollars.sadly. It is almost a guarantee that if a mower comes into our shop running choppy and/or starting hard, and it has an E3 plug in it, that the plug is the problem. To me, in my experience, the E3 plugs are among the worst plugs that can be used in a small engine, period. ![]()
